Sweet Uncle Wayne...

D. Wayne Nilsson
1925 ~ 2014
Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away at home surrounded by so much love. He lived a long, beautiful life.
As a young man Wayne proudly joined the Navy, served in World War II and served his country honorably. He married Carole Worthen in 1949, later divorced. They were blessed with five sons. Well into his retirement years he opened his heart and home to his granddaughter where he raised her and they became inseparable and best friends.
Wayne spent his life serving others. He was the most wonderful example of Christ-like love. He was very active in the LDS church where he had many callings. He loved staying busy and spent many hours tinkering around the house and countless hours planting flowers and doing yard work.
Wayne had a heart of gold and was a man full of wisdom, strength, love and faith. He was simply the best for so many reasons. He was a wonderful friend, amazing father and the best papa. He was truly a blessing to all and will be missed so much.
Those left to cherish his memories are his boys Doug Nilsson (Renae), Steve Nilsson, his granddaughter Trisha Nilsson Watson (Brian), his brothers Dale Nilsson and Lynn Nilsson, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his three boys Michael, Kyle and Donald.
A viewing will be Thursday evening, April 17, 6-8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 am at Hillcrest 9th Ward, 915 East Peach Blossom Drive, Sandy. Viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road.
I love you so much Papa! Your love will light my way, your memory will always be in my heart. www.goffmortuary.com

Sandy is home...

We went up to visit my Grandpa Nilsson and Uncle Tracy. I took a picture of my uncle, but it wasn't on the memory card when we got it back :(

My uncle has MS and I think it is a good thing for my grandpa to have another person around.
We took little Aunya up to meet her Great Grandpa and meet my cousin Josh's little Marissa.
My Aunt Stephanie and my Marilyn my Grandma N. sister came up to visit with us.
Here is one month old Aunya and one week old Marissa with her Aunt Bree holding her.
We talked, laughed and caught up with one another. My Grandpa keeps saying how he wants to go be with my Grandma. It breaks my heart, but she is with us now. I KNOW it and feel it.
Danny also helped me tell how I woke up out of it and told them my Grandma helped me back. This made my Grandpa very happy and brought a few tears. It was such a wonderful day! I love visiting Sandy my childhood, teenage home:)

A Sweet Note...

This is so weird but i had to tell you. So last night I was really sick and up all night puking anyway I finally fell asleep and in my dream I was in the hospital and you were the only one that came to visit me and you kept whispering nice things to me and when I woke up I felt so much better. Miss and love you aunt Des ♥-Kelly

For the 4th of July last year we went to Lake Powell and brought My niece KellyBean. On the way home she got really sick and was throwing up. I felt so bad and kept loving her. So when I read this, it reminded me of that.

Her note on facebook sure brightened my day.

Love you KellyBean!!!

REMEMBERING...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! I MISS YOU SO MUCH AND THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME FIND MY WAY BACK! I LOVE YOU!
We celebrated by having Mexican food for dinner. My Grandma loved Mexican food, but my Grandpa didn't so when we came to visit, she would take us to get Mexican food. Miss those days!

My Memories...

Today is my uncle's memorial service.
I new he was sick, the cancer was finally winning. At Christmas, he looked so frail and could barely hold his grandson. It was heartbreaking, but he had a huge smile while looking at his grandson Josh. You couldn't help but smile too.

My kids didn't really get to know Bryan. He was a little anti social and truth be told, an alcoholic. Not that that defined him, but his moods were unpredictable. I liked him when he was really drunk because he was super nice. Not the right thing to say, but it was the only time he told me he loved me.

He was lost...

He got married when I was about 11 and ended up with a step daughter Angela and later went on to have Savannah and Dallas. Savannah and Dallas were both born early and sadly, Dallas didn't make it. It was a big deal to have a son in the Nilsson family, and Bryan mourned for his son. Every memorial day, he got out the pictures of the sweet baby and was sad, but yet loving.

I only share this private info so my kids will know a little about this mysterious uncle.

I loved him and am so saddened he didn't get to see his grandson grow up.

The Nilsson family has lost 4 people in the last 3 years. It is a little hard for me to take. We were a family that was held together by the most amazing woman, and when she passed, we all try to hold it together, but it is so much harder. It seems we only see each other at funerals.

I don't like change. I still am trying to recover from losing our dear friend and my cousin last year. It is so hard.
I wanted 2012 to be free of death...time to adjust, but that is not what is meant to be.

Uncle Bryan...

Bryan Nilsson

Bryan David Nilsson
1956 ~ 2012
Bryan passed away January 11, 2012 in his childhood home surrounded by loved ones. He was born November 21, 1956 to Heber "Dale" and Beverly Bird Nilsson.
As a child he enjoyed playing baseball and has remained an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Bryan was a true cowboy and adventure seeker, spending every moment possible in "God's country" fishing, horse-back riding and enjoying nature. He was known for his giving spirit, always helping a friend in need. We love you Bryan and you will be missed.
He is survived by his father Dale; daughters Savannah (Ryan), and Angela; and five grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings Randy (Sherry), Kevan (Sherri), Tracy (Deborah) and Stephanie (Mike). Bryan is preceded in death by his mother Beverly and his son Dallas.
A small memorial service for family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, January 18th at 5:30 pm at Stark Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A celebration of Bryan's life will follow services from 6 to 8 pm also at Starks Funeral Parlor.
Special thanks to Alpine Hospice and Steph and Sherri for their loving care throughout his last days.

SM Christmas

f
SecurityMetrics always has a great Christmas party with games and prizes of $500. There was a dance off, bull riding, basketball, foosball, ping pong, shuffle board-Austin almost won :(. I didn't participate in the competitions except for the raffle. I was a Scrooge.
Danny and I sat with my cousin Josh Pitts, his wife Cassidy, Autumn and Austin. Wish they took a picture of them, but they got the important people LOL.
Gourmet crepes...the desserts were so awesome!

I am so grateful that I received the blessing of working for SecurityMetrics. Human Resources is a field I enjoy, except on those days I don't...you know what I mean. It can be hard, heartbreaking and quite a challenge for a company with 400+ employees, but with the help of my SHRM HR class, I am feeling very confident and hope to take the test next year when I am eligible.

I just wish Danny still worked here with me :( Oh well.

My Cuzzy...

This Talk given to us by Quentin L. Cook, Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
for our October General Conferendce, was the one that was for me. The Songs They Could Not Sing

While we do not know all the answers, we do know important principles that allow us to face tragedies with faith and confidence.

This year we have lost a best friend Sean Peart tragically and yesterday, I learned my cousin Torri Nilsson had passed away...I also lost my Great Grandma Poll.  All of this happened in the time frame of four months.

Today, October 7th, is Sean's Birthday. He would be 45 today.

Torri...the cousin I love so much.

Torri Lee Nilsson

July 13, 1975 ~  October 5, 2011

Hometown: Salt Lake City, UT

Torri Lee Nilsson
1975 – 2011

Torri Lee Nilsson passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2011. She was born July 13, 1975 to Kevan and Connie Nilsson.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 4 pm at the Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 So. 2200 W. Riverton, where friends may call 2 hours prior to funeral.

The struggles of our lives don’t define who we are, they define who we become.
On Oct 5th 2011 we unexpectedly lost our daughter, sister, mother and friend Torri Lee Nilsson.
On July 13th 1975 Torri was born to Kevan & Connie Nilsson.   She graduated from Murray High school and earned her LPN degree from the U of U and SLCC.  She had 3 beautiful children Tyree, Christopher and Luke. Torri enjoyed spending time in the out doors, camping, hiking and rock climbing. She loved the time she spent with her family on road trips to California, Oregon and through Utah.  She loved to dance & loved music.  She always said that she loved the water - walking in the rain, swimming, long baths, and the ocean.
Torri was a spiritual person that looked to her heavenly father for guidance with her daily struggles. She took comfort in knowing that on the day that she would be called upon by her lord she would be entering into a world filled with love, light, hope, happiness and peace.
Torri is survived by her mother Connie, her sister Heather, her children and her father Kevan. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Weir and Wilda Memmott, Beverly Nilsson and her brother Kevan Tyrell Nilsson.
Torri,  We take comfort in knowing that you have  been welcomed into heaven by your grandparents and your brother.

It is hard to talk about this for me. This will leave me so exposed and raw. I need to share for this is my personal blog and I feel getting it out there, I can learn to heal. I can't have the closure I need, but getting this hurt out of me hopefully will help me move on.

I sat up last night for hours with all my memories flashing through my mind. Like the time she and I told the younger ones that there were secret passages in my Grandma's house. They climbed in the closet and we locked them in. Yes...we were bullies. But I smile at that. We also would talk all night when sleeping over at Grandma's. Oh and the time she was on the hippo when we were probably 11 or 12 and she went face first into the snow. Funny. She also sometimes gave in and let me sleep on the bed and not the floor, not very often though. I started to slowly learn to speak up for myself. I always was amazed at how much she could eat and stay so skinny. NOT FAIR. Also when we would fight, she would call me Des the Lez and I called her Whori Torri, Ya, we were sometimes mean.

I will so miss her. I wish I could have told her I loved her and reached out to help her like I wanted to so often. I kept telling my family and Grandma that I wish she would stop hating me and let me help her. She had a meth addiction that she battled for so long. She wanted to be a nurse again and be with her children more.

I remember a family reunion where she had just given up her third child, not mentioned in the obituary, for adoption. I wanted to reach out to her so my Dad and Danny told me to talk to her. She was sitting alone under a tree, so I walked over and sat next to her. She turned her head away, so I told her I was sorry and that I was here for her. I put my hand on her knee and she abruptly got up and ran away crying. I felt so horrible.

I hope that she understands how much I love her and that I have forgiven her and hope she can forgive me. I do hope Torri finds the peace she needs. Bye my friend.

On another sad note...

Her brother took his life three years ago almost to the date.

October is looking to be a month of sadness for our family.

I do however, find comfort in the fact that Torri is in my Grandma Nilsson's arms and is with her brother. It makes this a little better. I know my Grandma knew how much I loved Torri and wished we could be friends again.

I hurt so much...

From her Daughter Tyree...

Torri Lee Nilsson – My biological mother left us all unexpectedly on October 5, 2011. I ask all of my friends and loved ones to say a prayer for her. Please ask that in death she will be able to find the peace, comfort and love that she was not able to find while living. May God bless that she is reunited with her brother grandparents and mother-in-law. And they watch over her and guide her through this new adventure that she is now on.

Nilsson Family...Sisters, Brother, Aunts and Cousins

We chose this little area in  Lehi, Utah.

I tried to capture real moments, but the background was ugly.

McKenna didn't know I took this. She looks so happy and carefree.
Everyone was a little upset with the graffiti, but I told them at least it was happy and not offensive.

Daddy's kids...Autumn, Jeremiah, Amber, Desirae and Morgan.

Auctober woke up really mad and only wanted Mom for the first half hour.
It was an exhausting day.

I hate the board behind them, but in sepia or black and white it won't matter.

Alisha, Taisha, Auctober, Kelly, McKenna, Morgan and Jeremiah.

 Aunt and Cousins.
 Watch out boys...

My pimp bro and his call girl. LOL Totally Amber's idea.

We have walked through the messes we have made... together...
We have held hands to help keep eachother from falling.

 Daddy's girls. Sisters forever!

Auctober always has that look...Reminds me of those dolls that are looking to the side.

Amber is always traveling here and there. Hopefully one day she can find her place.

Desirae, Autumn, Sheri, Morgan and Amber.

The time of day and wind played havoc with this picture shoot...
plus too many people with cameras, but I feel we got some good ones.
I wasn't prepared to have my picture, so I borrowed clothes and didn't look my best, but it's all about the memories.

Time is fleeting...
We have to spend time together while we can.

Forget the past...

Don't look to the future...

Bury the hatchet and live in the moment.

And Daddy...
These are for you.
