D. Wayne Nilsson
1925 ~ 2014
Our
beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend
passed away at home surrounded by so much love. He lived a long,
beautiful life.
As a young man Wayne proudly joined the Navy, served in
World War II
and served his country honorably. He married Carole Worthen in 1949,
later divorced. They were blessed with five sons. Well into his
retirement years he opened his heart and home to his granddaughter where
he raised her and they became inseparable and best friends.
Wayne
spent his life serving others. He was the most wonderful example of
Christ-like love. He was very active in the LDS church where he had many
callings. He loved staying busy and spent many hours tinkering around
the house and countless hours planting flowers and doing yard work.
Wayne
had a heart of gold and was a man full of wisdom, strength, love and
faith. He was simply the best for so many reasons. He was a wonderful
friend, amazing father and the best papa. He was truly a blessing to all
and will be missed so much.
Those left to cherish his memories are
his boys Doug Nilsson (Renae), Steve Nilsson, his granddaughter Trisha
Nilsson Watson (Brian), his brothers Dale Nilsson and Lynn Nilsson, and
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by
his three boys Michael, Kyle and Donald.
A viewing will be Thursday
evening, April 17, 6-8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street,
Midvale, Utah. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 am at
Hillcrest 9th Ward, 915 East Peach Blossom Drive, Sandy. Viewing one
hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery
Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road.
I love you so much Papa! Your love will light my way, your memory will always be in my heart.
